Champagne tasting at Napoleon DC

Super idea and super restaurant/champagne bar! Napoleon DC.

They have a monthly tasting of champagnes.

It was so great to gather a group of friends from 3 different jobs and college.
And so nice that they all loved eachother! I'm so lucky to have made such good and interesting friends everywhere I go :-)

Anybody up for forming the dinner club we talked about?

Las Vegas 2009 - Encore!

Spa review to come (on the OTHER site for those of you who know what that is) but I hate to say, it's not great. It's beautiful but lacking.

The hotel on the other hand....The Encore is one of my new favorite hotels!

It matches the Wynn on the outside look but is different internally. It's only been open since December so everything is sparklingly clean.

Really stunning views from the floor to ceiling windows. These photos don't do it justice.

Beautiful bathroom of course.
And interesting bedroom/living room set up. From the couch you can just lay there and look out the window at the view.

STEVE!!!! Awesome job on the casino. Truly my favorite casino EVER.

Sunlight in a casino....fantastic idea. Being able to see the pool, the red crystal chandeliers, the nice scents wafting through.....truly fantastic. After visiting several others over the few days, it was so pleasant to come "home," where it felt relaxing in the casino. Totally different atmosphere than the others.

The fantastic bar outside of Switch was a total delight (not only did we win a bit on the video black jack machines, we were introduced to several new outstanding cocktails by Jeff, super bar tender.) The restaurant walls, chandeliers and decor "switches" every 20 minutes or so....new walls and art come down, lights disappear and new ones appear. One time you're in an Italian villa and the next in a modern French brasserie. You could watch the restaurant switch from right outside at the bar. Basil Gimlet and Mayflower were great.

First bite of food was great! Society Cafe....mini sloppy joes.....really good ones.

The million dollar Swaroski crystal dragon in the Wazuza restaurant.

Another restaurant, Sinatra has all Frank's favorite Italian food and some cool stuff like his Grammy and some pictures and Encore also has Botero (my favorite guy who paints and sculpts large) (did Steve dive into my mind to create these restaurants and hotels??) but did not eat at those this time.

Fantastic chandeliers in the lobby and "lucky" butterflies everwhere.

A couple of days of good room service for breakfast!

Super Irish lunch, black velvets and music at New York New York's 9 Fine Irish Men restaurant.

Only watched the fountains once this time. Next trip - fountain view suite!

One night, we stopped by Margaritaville (after seeing Big Elvis, dancing with an older gentleman from a group of very happy seniors, and having fun at the very low dollar craps and Blackjack tables at Bill's).

There were no tables but we pulled up to the tiny "take out" bar (where people were buying drinks to take with them down the strip). Someone wanted fish tacos but they were not on the menu. The super bar tender said "but those sound good....let me see what I can do. What would you put in it?" and they proceeded to deliver fish tacos! and I had some good corn and crab chowder and watched a crazy drunk guy whistling....

The Irish casino near Bill's, with stuff I'd never seen before....beer pong.....I don't know if people were actually "betting" on it or not but they WERE playing.

Funny tshirt!

Daniel Boulud Brasserie in the Wynn
Went there last time too but sat indoors and had an early dinner and had NO IDEA there was a show! This time sat at a perfect outside table, was served by a fabulous waiter (was offered a shawl if I got cold, and then was treated to the weirdest show.....really.

But first, some of the food. Very good again. Artichoke soup (with some foi gras), caesar salad, big plate of tender scallops, crispy duck and unknown vegetables.
Could not do dessert.

The giant waterfall that turns into a screen for the multimedia, muppet, robot show.... seriously!
It's gigantic and changes color every few minutes. There are several big balls that turn colors and move around during part of the show which occurs every 20 minutes or so.
Take a look at two videos. You never knew what was going to happen next.
Very cool design, the three Wynn restaurants in the area all open onto porches that surround this lake so visitors to all of them can see the show. Up to one side is the other waterfall in front of Okada - I think my favorite meal (scallops again, and really good soft shell crab sushi with super fresh wasabi and ginger, grilled asparagus wrapped in bacon, eggplants, great salad). Again, a beautiful view and decor.
